At one point in 1733 the Akwamu were ruling the place and their rulership was so oppressive. Hence, in an attempt to resist this oppressive rule of the Akwamus, a war broke out between the Ga people and Akwamus. The Ga people invited the Akyem to help them in the battle, but unfortunately La people and the Danes were supporting Akwamu because they had a problem with the Gas. The other Ga people were supported by the Akyem. So at a point when Akwamu loss the war, then the Danes and the La people were in serious trouble because they were going to be wiped out by the other side. According to Romer this is what Putti did: ‘‘ But lo! Just in time[ the fetish] Giemawong arrived, most conveniently-I really do not know if Putti had arranged for him to arrive- and[the oracle] made his pronouncement, that the Danish Whites were God’s dearest children, in preference to the other Whites, and if anyone murdered them God would take even more blessings away from the country and the sea.’’ It is said that it was the oracle that made the pronouncement. Other version also says that the man engineered the oracle to speak. But the most important thing is that he put action where his mouth was. He moved and went to the castle that was in danger, the Danish castle. Because, he moved there and made the pronouncement through the oracle the others who were fighting were so scared, that they stop the war and saved the Danes and their allies- Osu, La and Teshi who were on the other side. Another time in1748, there was also a fierce battle between the people of La on one side and the Ga Mashi on the other side. This time, the wife of the King, Naa Koila was in the Dutch town and another wife of the Priest, Kpeshe and his son, Klottey. So during that time when the going got tough, it was said that Naa Koila moved her mat and stool and everything from Ga Mashi and came and stayed in La kpawe, which means she has left them and come to the husband. This meant that the people could not fight. It could therefore be concluded that Odoi Kpoti, King of La saved his own people. This reinforces his intelligence and greatness.
